McLion (1967, Eindhoven, The Netherlands)

After running his advertising agency Impression for 15 years, McLion drastically changed his career path. In that period he assigned work to other photographers, studied model and fashion photography and build up his collection of vintage photographs. His photographs were exposed every now and then, but the break through came in 2006 when his photobook Transsiberië en Kamtsjatka was awarded Travel Book of the Year. In 2008 he cooperated on a book about the Greenwich Meridian, which confirmed his love for the African continent. Afterwards his work has been published in a variety of magazines and exhibited on a regular base. Since 2008 McLion is the owner of Galerie 't Fotokabinet in The Hague, which is regularly in use as a studio as well.

His portrait and travel photo's are always showing his ability to connect with people, whether they are old or young, in his or in their own environment. Many times his art is showing his skills on patterns and compositions, which he learned during his advertising years.
