Willem Schalekamp (1942, The Netherlands)

From the series "Fotokwadraten"

One of the recurring themes in Willem Schalekamp's work is protest. This is in a way a traditional theme within street photography. But Schalekamp is able to create his own "signature". Exploring the field of traditional photo techniques (analogue, black and white, baryta paper) and digital manipulation, he found "his procedure". The printed black and grey photo's are used as the background, on which colorful objects are placed. This set up is photographed again, digitally this time. Doing so, he finds his way to comment the "originals".

The work of Willem Schalekamp is available at Galerie 't Fotokabinet. The complete series "Fotokwadraten" is on stock. His photo's are for sale in a limited edition of 5.
