Lukas Roels (Gent, Belgium)
"Papi", "Androgyn Angel", From the series "Angels of Time"
The Belgium photographer and photography teacher Lukas Roels had his first exposition at Galerie Bender in Rotterdam in 1979. Many expositions in Belgium, The Netherlands, Poland and Australia followed. In 2009 he debuted at Galerie 't Fotokabinet with the controversial exposition "Angels of Time". His themes are nudity, melancholia, dreams, youth and time. In a period of moralism and censorship by politicians and law enforcers, it is refreshing to see that Roels continues to do what many great painters, sculptors and photographers did before: showing expressions, feeling and beauty of the (semi)nudes.
Lukas Roels is represented exclusively for The Netherlands by Galerie 't Fotokabinet. Colleague gallery owners, editors or museum conservators can contact Lion Greveraars. Collectors are welcome to visit the gallery. The complete series of 40 photo's of Angels of Time is on stock. Prices of limited edition prints (edition of 8, framed size 30x40 cm) are € 400,-. Prices of limited edition prints (edition of 8, framed size 70x100 cm) are € 800,- (both included matting, framing and VAT).
